Fourth of July Fireworks & Safety Notice – Lewisberry Borough
As we celebrate the Fourth of July, Lewisberry Borough would like to remind residents of local ordinance regarding fireworks, along with important safety information due to current weather conditions.
🎆 Permitted Fireworks
The Borough ordinance does not restrict items classified as:
Ground and hand-held sparkling devices
Novelties
Toy caps (as defined under APA 87-1 standards)
These items may be possessed and used at any time in accordance with Pennsylvania state law.
🚫 Consumer Fireworks Restrictions
Consumer-grade fireworks (including firecrackers, bottle rockets, and Roman candles) are strictly prohibited from being ignited or discharged:
On any property owned by or under the control of Lewisberry Borough
Additionally, under Pennsylvania law:
Consumer fireworks may not be discharged within 150 feet of any occupied building or vehicle, regardless of ownership
Due to the close proximity of homes and buildings within our historic borough, it is extremely difficult to meet this safety requirement. Residents are strongly encouraged to comply with these regulations to ensure the safety of all.
🔥 Burn Ban Notice
Due to dry weather conditions, a temporary burn ban is in effect within Lewisberry Borough:
No open burning is permitted at this time
This includes fire pits, brush burning, and any outdoor open flames
This measure is in place to reduce the risk of accidental fires and protect our community.
⸻
Wishing You a Safe & Happy Fourth of July!
Please celebrate responsibly, be mindful of your neighbors, and help keep Lewisberry safe.
